Speaking during meeting with Chancellor Scholz. @Bundeskanzler https://t.co/Fzm87UWMYH — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) October 25, 2024 Scholz arrived in Delhi late on Thursday as part of his three-day official visit to the country. Welcoming Scholz to India, Modi praised the progress made in India-Germany ties in recent years. As both sides co-chaired the seventh Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC) at Hyderabad House, Modi said that increasing cooperation in areas like defence and technology has emerged as a sign of “mutual trust” between the two strategic partners. “In the last IGC in Berlin in 2022, we made important decisions for our bilateral cooperation. In two years, there has been encouraging progress in various sectors of our strategic relations. Increasing cooperation in areas like defence, technology, energy, green and sustainable development have become symbols of mutual trust,” the Prime Minister added. Highlighting how the world is going through an era of conflicts, PM Modi said there are serious concerns regarding the rule of law and freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific Region. “In a time like this, a strategic partnership between India and Germany has emerged as a strong anchor,” he added. The Prime Minister further said India-Germany relations are not “transactional” in nature but rather transformational ties between the two democracies. “In this regard, we welcome the Focus on India Strategy issued by you…I am delighted that to expand and elevate our partnership, we are taking several new and important initiatives and moving from Whole of Government to an approach of Whole of Nation,” he said. Scholz’s India visit comes less than a month after the German Cabinet adopted the key strategic document Focus on India, which sheds light on the future direction of bilateral relations with India. Earlier this month, the German Government said that it wants to raise the strategic partnership that has underpinned its relationship with India since 2000 to a new level. Speaking at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, PM Modi said, “The growing cooperation in the defence and security sectors is a symbol of our deep mutual trust. "PM Narendra Modi Is Trying To…": Mohammed Shami's Big Remark On Tourism Amid Maldives Row
India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami has spoken on the ongoing Maldives issue and expressed his support for Indian tourism and encouraged fellow citizens to explore the beauty of the Indian beaches. This comes amid the row over a remark made by a Maldives minister, leaders and other public figures after PM Narendra Modi visited the union territory of Lakshadweep. “We should promote our tourism. No matter which way the country moves forward, it is good for everyone. PM is trying to make our country move forward so we should also support it,” Shami told ANI.
Tumblr media
Apart from the Indian speedster, many sportspersons came out to criticize the ‘racist’ remarks against India by public figures in the Maldives and encouraged fellow citizens to explore the beauty of the Indian beaches.
After their historic win in South Africa in Cape Town, India will face England in the five-match Test series on January 25 next year with the first Test in Hyderabad. The fifth and final Test will be held in Dharamshala and the series will conclude on March 11.
Shami said he is not thinking of adopting new techniques for the tour and he will try his best to “fulfill the responsibilities” presented to him.
“I am not thinking of anything new for this tour. I always thought that if I am fit then my performance will be amazing in the match. I try my best to fulfill the responsibilities given to me. The plus point is that these are our home conditions, and this helps you. It is very important that you reach the ground with a good mindset and fitness. Earlier people used to think that India is a batting-dominating team but now after 4 to 6 months, everyone has come to know that India is also a bowling team,” he added.
England Men’s selection panel last year named a 16-player squad for the five-Test series against India in January next year, featuring four spinners and three uncapped players while India is yet to name the squad for the series.
